36 Vayadhinilae Movie Review

Jothika is rich in talent. Kollywood has missed for eight long years. She is back to entertain with 36 Vayadhinilae.Produced by her husband Suriya’s 2D Entertainments, it is a remake of Malayalam hit How Old Are You. It is directed by Roshan Andrews, who directed the original.

It a superlative show by her.Rahman, Nasser, M S Baskar, Prem among others form part of the cast.Music is by Santosh Narayanan .

The movie follows the life of Vasanthi (Manju Warrier), a government clerk. Along with her husband Rahman who works with All India Radio, and her high school daughter, she leads a very middle class life that in her husband’s words is very ‘boring’.

Life changes for her , when the President of India sends her an invitation to have breakfast with him. The outcome of the incident, makes her a household name, and often times an object of ridicule too. Bad times hit Vasanthi’s comfort zone, when her husband decides to pursue his job offer in Ireland and takes along their daughter too. She promises herself that she will soon join her husband and daughter, by securing a job in Ireland.

Meanwhile the vegetables from her terrace farm brings her a huge order for organic vegetables. Susan (Abirami), Vasanthi’s best friend from college comes in search of her, and helps bring out the old zeal and zest and convince her to chase her dreams.

The movie is engaging and at places preachy. All said, watch it to know the power of women.

Verdict: Jothika is back to sizzle
