Time to celebrate

Filmmaker Ram’s Thangameengal bagged three awards at the 61st National Film Awards announced this evening at New Delhi.

Besides winning the award for best regional language movie, Thangameengal saw Na Muthukumar being adjudged the best lyricist (Anandha Yaazhai) and Baby Sadhana and Shelly Kishore (best child artistes).

Sabu Jose was chosen as best editor for his work in Vallinam while Thalaimuraigal, directed by veteran filmmaker Balu Mahendra, who passed away recently adjudged the best film on national integration.

Thangameenagl was directed by Ram and produced by JSK Film Corporation, while Vallinam was directed by Arivazhagan and Thalaimuraigal produced by actor-director Sasikumar.
