With a crime thriller that exposes the ATM scam racket, director Gaurav of Thoonga Nagaram-fame has gone the Shankar way in the film that has high-voltage action and the hero is more brainy than brawny. What begins as a romantic story takes twists and turns and ends up as a cat and mouse game between good and bad.
Vikram Prabhu after a decent outing in Arima Nambi continues his good run in Sigaram Thodu. An angry young man who wants to take revenge against those who inflicted harm on his father is what the story is all about. There is humour and romance too. Monal Gajjar plays the heroine, while the cast also includes Sathish, Gaurav, Sathyaraj and Kovai Sarala.
Vikram Prabhu plays a happy-go-lucky youngster who wants to end up with a job in a bank. He loves the white collar job. His father Sathyaraj is a retired police officer, who works in Crime Records Bureau. Naturally, he wants to see his son become a policeman. He motivates him to become one. There is romance in between in the form of Monal Gajjar for Vikram Prabhu.
Circumstances force Vikram Prabhu to join the Police Academy. Meanwhile, a duo goes around robbing ATMs. The police department is cluless. One act of Sathyaraj helps nail the culprits. But he pays a heavy price for it. Now the onus is on Vikram Prabhu to set things right as a police officer. How he goes about forms the crux.
Vikram Prabhu seems to have improved from his last outings. In Sigaram Thodu, he has enough opportunity to showcase his acting side. Monal Gajjar plays a typical herpoine, while Sathish’s one-liners remind one of Santhanam. Gaurav as the baddie is menacing., However the scene-stealer is Sathyaraj, who adds pep to the proceedings.
Gaurav seems to have done his homework well. The tricks of ATM fraudsters are well-narrated. Through the film, he creates an awareness among people to keep secret code of their ATM cards safe and secure.
Imman’s background score is good. He has proved that he can handle city-based themes too well.
