Films on Lankan Tamils is a tough one to be made. It invites controversies.But three cheers to Santosh SIvan. he has managed one with ease and it is not one-sided.It evokes sympathy and presents the travails of Tamils in a touching manner.
Santosh Sivan narrates the tale of 20-year-old girl Rajini (Sunanda), who crossed the sea and came to seek refuge in Tamilnadu.War-torn zones, the explosions, gun battle are well re-created.
Varun, a boy with Down’s Syndrome plays the lead.He goes around in search of his brother, who has joined the rebels. Veteran actress Saritha plays ‘Tsunami Akka’, who runs the orphanage.Karunas as Stanley, a school teacher, gives his best.
Shyam Sunder, M K Vijayan, Janaki, Vikram Chakkravarthy and Soumya Sadanandan are also part of the cast.
What begins as an emotional journey of a young girl who crossed the seas with hope for a better life, slowly settles drown as docu-drama.
A touchy tale well-made by Santosh Sivan. Three cheers to Lingusamy for gathering guts to release the same.
