Venilla Veedu Movie Review

Many women are crazy over gold ornaments and sometimes this craze can wreak havoc in the lives of their close ones. This forms the crux of Venilla Veedu.

Directed by Vettri Mahalingam, who started his career as associate to art director Krishmurthy, the movie stars Mirchi Senthil and Vijayalakshmi as the lead pair.

Malayalam actress Srinda Ashab, who impressed with her performances in Annaiyum Rasoolum, 22 Female Kottayam and 1983, makes her debut in Tamil cinema. Muthuraman of Vazhaku En… is also in the cast.

Produced by P V Arun under his banner Adarsh Studios, the movie has music by Dhanraj Manickam. Senthil and Vijayalakshmi play husband and wife. Srinda dons the role of Vijayalakshmi’s friend.

Karthik (Senthil) is married to Thenmozhi (Vijayalakshmi). The couple have a child and they come to Chennai for livelihood. A typical middle class family, their desire to own gold lands them in trouble. Their life takes a turn and subsequent events lead to loss of life. Senthil and Vijalakshmi chip in with their best. Muthraman is tailor-made for the character.

Vettri has taken a serious issue and laced it with commercial elements. But pace is the problem. The movie stutters and there are sequences with turn too predictable.

Verdict: Bold over gold
