Kaththi Movie Review

An action thriller, Kaththi is scripted and directed by A R Murugadoss. The film stars Vijay in a dual role alongside Samantha.

Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, Tota Roy Chowdhury and Sathish play supporting roles. Anirudh composed the film’s soundtrack and score. Cinematography was by George C Williams and the film was edited by A Sreekar Prasad. Produced by Lyca Productions, the movie speaks about the need to preserve agriculture and the need to ensure the villages in India don’t fall prey to industrialisation.

Murugadoss and Vijay came together last for Thuppakki, which released during Deepavali 2012 and went on to be a hit.

Vijay plays dual role of Kathiresan and Jevanandham. The former is a fun-loving youth. He escapes from prison only to swap places with jeevanandham, who looks alike him. He comes to know that Jeevanandham had a mission to achieve. He fought for the welfare of a village and the villagers involved in agriculture. He takes cudgels against MNC and comes up with a huge plan to set things right. He romances Samantha and has Sathish for company and fights Neil Nitin Mukesh.

Vijay does a good show. He is splendid and gives a super show in two roles. Samantha combines glamour and action well. Sathish makes laugh loud while Neil Nitin Mukesh does well.

Music by Anirudh is good and the song Selfie Pulla is super. All said, Kaththi by Murugadoss is racy and entertaining.

Verdict: Harps on a theme
